旅
どれほど周囲が悪しき助言を叫び続けても、
家中が揺らぎはじめ、
貴方の足首を繋ぎ留める鎖の存在に気づいても、
ある日貴方はついに貴方の為すべきことを知り、
それに着手した。
「私の人生を返せ!」
それぞれの声は叫んだ。
しかし、貴方は止まらなかった。
風が強固なその指を以って最奥をこじ開けようとも、
彼らの憂鬱がそれほど酷いものであろうとも、
貴方は貴方の為すべきことを知った。
夜はすでに更けて外は荒涼としており、
道のあちこちに枝や石が落ちていた。
少しずつ、それらの声から離れるにつれて、
雲間から星が明るく輝き始め、
新しい声が聞こえてきた。
貴方はやがてそれが貴方の声であると気づく。
貴方が世界を深く闊歩するにつれてその声は貴方と仲良くなっていった。
そして、貴方は貴方ができることのみを為そうと決めた
ー貴方が救える命のみを救おうと決めた。
The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, ans began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting thier bad adviceー
though the whole house
began to trmble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though thier melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left thier voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognizes as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could doー
determined to save
the only life you could save.
